What is a Read-a-thon?

The Read-A-Thon encourages students to build a love of reading while supporting our largest fundraiser of the year. Students will collect donations and read from February 27 through March 6. Students will raise funds by gathering flat-rate sponsorships from family and friends on getmovinfundhub.com. Participants earn prizes as they reach reading and donation milestones.

An adult should log reading minutes each night on the parent dashboard. Students can earn raffle entries, a game truck ticket, and classroom prizes based on minutes read as well as from donations.

Why Donate?

Please help us reach our goal of raising $40,000. All donations will be spent in the 2026-2027 school year on your students and their teachers:

  • $7,500 - Mrs. Popa at recess including Friday Trekkers program

  • $6,900 - AR Reading Software (Reading tests, Staar assessments etc)

  • $6,250 - $250 per teacher in classroom reimbursements

  • $5500 - Spirit Shirts for every child and staff on campus

  • $4000 - 7 teacher meals during the year, cardinal care supplement, teacher appreciation week

  • $3000 - Read-a-thon prizes and fees

  • $2,750 - Scholastic Magazine

  • $2000 - Community Events, like RINGO, Magic Show and Trunk or Treat

  • $700 - Membership toolkit website platform

  • $500- PTO Insurance

What Minutes Count?

  • Reading before and after school counts; This includes during Kids Club.

  • Reading before the official beginning of the Read-A-Thon does not count

  • Reading during class does not count

  • Being read to by other people counts so long as it isn't during school

  • Homework reading counts so long as it is done before or after school

  • Reading aloud to a pet counts

  • Reading aloud to other people counts. If you happen to read to someone who is also participating in the Read-A-Thon, it counts for both of you!

  • Active Listening to Audiobooks in the car counts
